The Form Fit Ankle Support with Exoform® Technology is a hybrid between a rigid ankle stirrup and a soft ankle support. With a stirrup-shaped, plastic exoskeleton that conforms to the user's anatomy, it offers the comfort and compression of a soft ankle support with 20-35% more support than traditional stirrup supports.
The ankle support is designed to offer compression and stability and aid in your recovery from injury. The laced design of the brace allows the patient to dictate the level of compression applied, whilst a lightweight and breathable material ensures it can be worn all day without becoming uncomfortable. Despite being low profile enough to be worn with your normal footwear it offers a moderate to high level of support and can be worn when active in any situation, from walking to the shops to hiking or even when playing sport.
Following an ankle injury it is important to manage the range of motion to minimise the the risk of further damage to the ligaments being caused. The lace up design ensures a close fit which limits inversion, eversion, dorsiflexion and plantarflexion movements - helping to offer stability to the affected ankle when active.
The Form Fit Ankle Support can be worn to manage a varierty of conditions including arthritis, bruising, ankle sprains and instabilities and tendonitis. The brace is designed to offer compression which works to manage inflammation and in turn offers pain relieving qualities. Following any of the prescribed conditions it is the application of compression in conjunction with stability that will allow you to return to action faster.
The brace is designed to be worn post injury as part of your overall rehabilitation programme and normally will be taken off once you're fully healed. Where there is a degree of instability or a reoccurring sports injury you may decide to wear it when playing your sport of choice for added protection. There are also people who need to wear these for longer periods of time.
If you are looking for a greater level of support as a result of instability (you don't feel confident putting your full weight on your affected ankle) then you should consider the Form Fit Ankle Support with Figure 8 Strap, the strap works by stabilising the 'rolling over' motion of the ankle with the aim of minimising the risk of further injury. Like the standard version it still offers compression to help manage any inflammation.
