Shoulder Supports

Shoulder Supports

The shoulder joint is held in place by numerous muscles and tendons that provide strength and stability to the joint. However due to the shoulders ability to perform a large range of movements in numerous directions, injury is still common. The collective name for the structures that protect the joint is the rotator cuff and this is where injury often occurs. Braces are prescribed to immobilise the joint and allow the muscles, tendons and ligaments to recover without repeat damage. Slings and supports can also be used following arm or hand injury to protect the affected area.

For serious injuries such as damage to the rotator cuff and dislocations, a shoulder brace that immobilises the joint is often prescribed. Following injury and/or surgery to the upper limbs the use of shoulder supports can help to protect the joint from further damage whilst providing support and reducing discomfort.
