The Formfit® Pro Ankle is a lightweight, compressive sleeve designed to offer sprained ankle support for those suffering from mild strains and sprains.

The 3D knit material ensures it remains breathable when being worn, ensuring that there is no sweat build up. This is especially important when being worn for long periods of time or during exercise.

Following an ankle injury it is important to follow the RICE principles of rest, ice, compression and elevation to ensure that the injury does not become more severe. The compression part of 'RICE' can be achieved with a sprained ankle support which can help to reduce pain levels and with it, mobility of the ankle joint.

Following an injury it’s important to manage your ankle injury with a brace for a number of reasons:

  • Reduce pain: swelling may occur which can be painful, with compression helping to reduce this and with it the pain.
  • Improve mobility: remaining inactive isn’t always an option so the use of a brace offers another layer of protection as you go about your daily life.
  • Protect against further injury: an ankle support for ligament damage helps to minimise the risk of further damage being caused when active, due to the inherent weakness in the joint resulting from the initial injury > as a subsequent injury could be even worse.

If you're receiving physiotherapy for your injury then the sprained ankle support can be used outside of these sessions as part of your overall rehabilitation programme in a bid to achieve full fitness.

The compression comes from the 3D knit material, which offers a host of benefits including:

  • Breathability
  • Compression
  • Maintains its shape (despite repeated use) i.e. it won’t stretch and become too big.

There are two types of braces, one with straps and one without. The one you choose / need will depend on the severity of the injury. The Formfit® Pro Ankle is the latter with it’s primary focus in offering compression to counteract the inflammation caused by the initial injury. This is turn will help to reduce pain levels and allow you to remain more mobile during your recovery.

Where there are stability concerns i.e. you feel there is an increased risk of rolling your ankle again then the best ankle support for a sprain is one with straps, like the a strapped variant such as the Formfit® Ankle Support with Figure 8 Strap would be beneficial. The straps act as external ligaments to help support the joint, thereby minimising the risk of you rolling your ankle again and causing further injury whilst still offering compression to manage inflammation.

19-May-2019 Product:

Easy to pull on. Very good support for a badly sprained ankle that is swollen. The ankle brace can be worn in a shoe. Very good support. Again, thanks for taking time to feedback to us.
26-Apr-2019 Product:

Top quality, fits well and looks great, does not move when running.
18-Mar-2019 Product:

This is a comfortable fit and very well made. I'm really pleased with it
19-Aug-2018 Product:

The support is fantastic! Was unsure on sizing after I really struggled to get it in to my ankle. Once on (using a ‘shimmy’ technique) it was a perfect fit. My ankle felt strong and steady for the run! Plus side: it washes really really well!
